I find it really uncomfortable to see the Met Gala this year because it serves as a stark reminder that problematic men are given huge platforms and forgiveness in society if they are talented.

Don't get me wrong, there's no doubt about Karl Lagerfeld's talents as a designer.

But did the biggest night in fashion have to make the night an entire celebration of a man who was farphobic, misogynistic, and racist?

It's disappointing in a post 'Me Too' era that the biggest models and Hollywood stars were happy to celebrate him.

Many who are open about pushing for change. It feels like they overlook causes if it helps their career.

But also, sometimes it feels like the fashion world is becoming more inclusive, and then they do something like this.

I feel like it points to a wider problem in society:

Powerful men get away with problematic behaviour if they're talented or successful. Especially if the targets of that problematic behaviour is women or minorities.

If we really want society to change, then we need influential people and companies to stand up to problematic behaviour, not celebrate it. Because otherwise the hashtags and supporting of causes are just hollow.

Actions speak louder than words as they say.

How do you guys feel about it?
