We open up our family album to share some of the highlights of the House of Suntory history and journey.
1. Our founder and First-Generation Master Blender Shinjiro Torii
2. The spirit of “Yatte Minahare”, that translates into a “never give up” spirit for challenging market conventions and pioneering change.
3-4. Yamazaki, Japan’s first malt whisky distillery, established in 1923 on the outskirts of Kyoto.

6. In 1929, Suntory released its first whisky, Shirofuda – or “White Label” - but the liquid was too peaty for the Japanese palate. It was a failure that convinced Shinjiro Torii to create a truly Japanese whisky.
7-8. Blended in 1937 according to Shinjiro Torii’s vision, Suntory Whisky “KAKUBIN” was the first Suntory signature blended whisky and it has been accepted and embraced by the Japanese public for its uniquely Japanese flavor notes, and remains Japan’s #1 best-selling whisky to this day.
