Photo by @kiliiiyuyan | On a last-minute whale-watching tour in Favorite Channel near Juneau, Alaska, I was delighted to come upon a pod of orcas hunting. Orcas are frequent visitors to these glacier-carved waterways, alongside humpbacks, gray whales, and other marine mammals. There’s a sea lion rookery in the area, which poses an irresistible attraction for the orcas. Really, though, it's that epic backdrop—Juneau’s snow-covered mountains—that makes this one of the top places to see and photograph orcas in the wild. | In Alaska, extraordinary experiences are an everyday occurrence. From glacier trekking to wildlife tours to learning about Alaska Native culture, awe-inspiring adventures await @travelalaska.
