In many ways, the support for the individual athletes is stronger and louder at this stage, because people travel to support their athletes in much greater numbers than maybe the Games. I don’t think I have experienced quite the same atmosphere as this year’s semifinal, and European regionals in the past anywhere else. The genuine screams and cheers for athletes, in every single heat, is something that reminds me of why we do what we do.
