トームさんのインスタグラム写真 - (トームInstagram)「Go see these mostly unseen works from the archive of a great Australian artist #GordonBennett #repost @suttongallerymelbourne We are excited to announce Gordon Bennett's forthcoming exhibition 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘐𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘔𝘺 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 opening on Saturday 24 June, alongside Mia Boe's solo exhibition 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Gordon Bennett’s 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘐𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘔𝘺 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 is an exhibition curated by Tim Riley Walsh in close consultation with the artist’s Estate. Utilising an archeological perspective, this exhibition begins by traveling backward through Bennett’s practice to reflect on settlement’s present state, and to its emergence at the point of British invasion and the ensuing, violent division of the landscape. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Gordon Bennett is recognised for his powerful perspectives on the post colonial experience, particularly in the Australian context, with much of his work mapping alternative histories and questioning racial categorisations and stereotypes.
