FYI (in case you’re new here) I live out of a suitcase and travel for months at a time before stopping at one of my “global closets”. My rule of thumb(s) is not only to pack less so you can shop locally, but also for every clothing or shoe item you buy, you must donate the same amount that you already have in the place you bought it. This keeps luggage weight and space low while double giving back to the local communities!
