Mid to late July at @denalinps in Alaska means the bright and blazing fireweed is blooming!

A resilient plant that thrives across Alaska, it gets its name because it’s notoriously associated with fire landscapes. It quickly takes over disturbed areas, including fire scars and logged lands.

Flowers start blooming at the bottom of the stalk. By the time they reach the top, winter is just around the corner - some people say six weeks to the first snow.
