After years of hearing mythic references to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I had the chance to see it for myself. In Marquette, an energetic hub on the shores of Lake Superior, I strolled the main street and visited with local artists like Stella Larkin. Only a few minutes from downtown is Black Rocks, a dramatic formation of Jacobsville sandstone where waves crashed below me. I love a town where you can be in nature before you know it. Driving north to Copper Harbor I discovered a seemingly endless network of mountain biking trails. The Upper Peninsula offers wonders both day and night. While visiting one of the country's newest dark-sky parks, I saw the northern lights for the first time. My final adventure took me to one of the least visited national parks—the mysterious Isle Royale. Flying in by seaplane, I was greeted by an archipelago packed with outdoor activities, and I even spotted a mama moose with her baby. A fitting finale to my week of exploration. | Whether you're an urban adventurer, outdoor enthusiast, or traveling with family and friends, Michigan has something for every traveler. @PureMichigan #KeepSummerFresh.」7月28日 22時40分 - natgeotravel
