@thisisirielove and the @mana_maoli Youth Collective joined forces on this uplifting #Mele4Maui collab - dedicated to Lahaina, and in honor of @bruddahwaltahaipolani

To be a fitting dedication to those impacted by the fires, Irie shared with us her idea to revise the lyrics of her original “My Sunshine,” and add the hook of Bruddah Waltahʻs classic, “Keep Hawaiian Lands in Hawaiian Hands.”

As we were gearing up to record the song the next day, we were deeply saddened to learn of his passing. And, we knew this arrangement was meant to be. We hope this mele provides even a small ray of sunshine to our ʻohana in Lahaina, and the ʻohana of one of the forefathers of Hawaiian reggae.

We also hope it may inspire more donations for those in West Maui who sorely need our kōkua.

We’d like to also send a special mahalo to Jason Momoa. We appreciate so many celebrities posting in support of those impacted, and Jason has gone above and beyond, consistently sharing multiple posts/stories on a daily basis since day 1. Aloha nui mākou iā ʻoe!
