豊田章男さんのインスタグラム写真 - (豊田章男Instagram)「. 8月22日、フィリピントヨタの35周年式典に出席しました。フィリピントヨタは、1988年に現会長のアルフレッド・ティさんのお父さま、ジョージ・ティさんと、私の父、豊田章一郎が「フィリピン社会の発展に貢献したい」と設立した会社です。私にも特別な思い入れがあります。フィリピンの経済や雇用に、長年にわたって貢献するには、何ができるだろうか。 2000年代、アジア本部長だった頃に悩みながら出した答えは「部品で産業基盤をつくり、輸出して外貨を稼ぐ」というものでした。あれから20年、仕入先の皆さまに支えて頂きながら、現地の仲間がコツコツとモノづくりを続けてくれた結果、今や年21万基、累計で650万基のトランスミッションを生産。輸出で国に貢献できる会社に育ちました。式典に先立ち、現地工場をご訪問頂いたマルコス大統領には、長年にわたりフィリピン国民に支えて頂いていることに感謝の気持ちを申し上げました。フィリピンのお客様の幸せにどう貢献できるか。これからも、町いちばんの会社を目指してまいります。 On August 22, I attended Toyota Philippines’ 35th anniversary ceremony. Toyota Motor Philippines was established in 1988 by Dr. George Ty, father of the company’s current chairman Alfred Ty, and my own father, Shoichiro Toyoda, out of a desire to help advance Philippine society. I too have a special attachment to the country. How could I contribute to the Philippine economy and employment in the long term? The answer I came up with in the 2000s, while leading Toyota’s operations in Asia, was to create an industrial base by focusing on parts, which would be exported to earn foreign currency. Twenty years on, thanks to the backing of suppliers and the tireless efforts of our local employees, the company now produces 210,000 transmissions a year, with a total of 6.5 million built. Today, Toyota Motor Philippines indeed contributes to its home country through exports. Ahead of the ceremony, President Marcos visited one of our local production plants, where I expressed my gratitude for the enduring support we have received from the people of the Philippines.
