Took a guided tour by Mr. Kenji Watanabe (special exhibition committee member of the Noborito Institute Museum). (The Imperial Japanese Army Noborito Laboratory was involved in the research and development of balloon bombs as "Fu-Go" weapons during World War II.) Professor Watanabe, while teaching at Hosei University's Second High School with his students, has been continuously researching the existence of the former Noborito Institute during WWII. Even 40 years after the war, this part of history had been erased with no records even in the Japan Defense Agency. He has been tirelessly unveiling this hidden past to the present day. It was quite alarming to witness how easily history can be made to seem non-existent. It's not a given that we have museums and records like this. They are the product of years of dedication and hard work of individuals, and it filled my heart with gratitude. When I asked Professor Watanabe how he could achieve such a feat, he replied, "It's about waiting and working alongside the younger generation." His words deeply resonated with me. Next spring, I'm scheduled to discuss balloon bombs and more with the museum's director, Mr. Akira Yamada.
