From streetstyle to the Black Power movement, Sir Horace Ové was crucial in chronicling defining moments and figures at the forefront of change. He recorded the public and private lives of his community through powerful film and photography, blending drama and documentary.

In ‘Yesterday’s Dream, Tomorrow’s Reality’, we see a snapshot of a political rally from the front line in 1970. A distinct divide is seen between the white, uniformed police officers and the many Black activists. The artist would go on to say, ‘I've always been an active photographer. I live in a visual world. If there's anything going on socially or politically, I want to know about it. So the late 1960’s and early 70’s were a very busy time for me.’ After a long career, it is with great sadness we've received the news that Sir Horace Ové has died at the age of 86. He will be remembered for his trailblazing work.
