素晴らしいギターがベルギーから日本に到着した。Tao GuitarsのSUTORATOモデルを僕のためにカスタムしたスペシャルモデル“IKI（粋）”だ。わざわざブリュッセルからロンドンに会いにきてくれたビルダーのSerge Michiels 氏は日本文化に大変造詣が深く、日本美術、建築、伝統工芸、造園、その他多岐にわたって日本の意匠をギター作りに活かすため、根気よく実験や工夫を繰り返してきた。そして完成したこのストラト”粋”モデル。ため息が出るほど美しく、伝統的でありながら未来志向で先鋭、前衛的。各パーツも驚くほど緻密に計算されていて、言葉に表現できないほどの完成度。例えば昔、初めてのベントレーが納車された時、運転席に座りハンドルを握ったあの瞬間、パテックフリップのエレガンスな硬質感を手首に巻き、その完璧な美意識に酔いしれたあの恍惚感を思い出す。このギターは機能性に満たされた完全なるアート•ピースだ。さて、プラグを繋いでヴォリュームをあげよう！アクセルを踏み出しドライブするのはこれからだ。もうすぐ始まるギタリズム7ツアーが、さらに楽しみになった。

An astonishing guitar has just arrived from Belgium to Japan. Based on Tao Guitars’ SUTORATO, it’s a custom built special model called “IKI（粋）”. An incredible builder, Serge Michiels, who has visited me from Brussel to London, has an extensive knowledge of Japanese arts, architects, traditional crafts and landscape gardening. He has utilized the essence of Japanese design for building this guitar, and after thoughtful creation and the countless improvements, SUTORATO “IKI” model is finally born. It posses a breath taking beauty, and it’s traditional, yet futuristic, avant-garde. All equipped parts are precisely designed, and simply can’t find the words to describe how perfectly it is executed. It reminds me the moment I sat on the driver’s seat of Bentley and held the wheel for the firs time, or the moment I put Patek Philippe on my wrist and was fascinated the aesthetic senses with its elegance and boldness. This guitar is the absolute art piece with superb functionality. Now it’s a time to plug, crank it up and hit the road! Really looking forward to play this on upcoming GUITARHYTHM VII Tour.
