On this #WorldMentalHealthDay, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my current mental health and check in with all of you. As I’ve openly shared over the years, I’ve had anxiety most of my life and have tried various methods to try to manage it.

In the summer, I introduced daily breathwork into my morning meditation.  Admittedly, it requires a bit more effort, including getting up earlier, and there are some mornings when I have to skip it due to the girls demanding breakfast at 5am! However, I’ve noticed a significant shift since committing to this practice most days 🧘‍♀️

While I continue to experience ups and downs, I’ve learned to accept that these moments are temporary, and not letting them overwhelm me has been incredibly beneficial. I’m really improving my ability to recognise when these emotions start to surface, rather than immediately diving into them headfirst.

I’ve been working on tuning into my inner needs lately, especially during some recent stressful situations. I noticed my patience wearing thin with the girls, and that’s when I decided to take some “me time” on a Saturday morning. I went for a walk, listened to a podcast, attended a yoga class, followed by a sauna and cryotherapy session. Initially, I felt a wave of anxiety and mum guilt for not being with the kids, but by the time I left, I was a completely different person. I felt revitalised, like I’d hit the reset button, and returned home ready to spend some quality time with the girls in a present state. It was a powerful reminder that prioritising self-care and asking for help isn’t selfish; it allows us to show up as better parents, partners, and friends 💗

I’m sending love and support to all those dealing with their mental health battles. Remember, it’s an ongoing journey, but sharing your stories and seeking help can make all the difference. My advice for self-love and well-being: don’t hesitate to put yourself first. How can you be there for others if you’re not there for yourself?
