Friendly reminder because I need to remind myself this too. It’s okay to have times where you’re just not feeling like your best self; It’s okay to take time. To recover. To heal. To do different things.

I’ve felt like I’ve had a tough year full of ups and downs in climbing with injuries and overall bandwidth — trying to do a lot all at once. In January I had an acute shoulder injury, then a torn a2 pulley in march, and a blown LCL in June. All of which led to me re-examining what I was doing, how I was approaching my training, and pivoting in certain ways to course correct. I have in many ways been broken down and built back up. It’s also why I’ve always loved doing a multitude of things at once - but there are breaking points of trying to do too many things. Touring my book and running my company does pull from my motivation because I’m just tired sometimes. But it’s hard to not feel your best self - and to be competing with who you used to be or who you want to be. I’d just say, we all (at least I do) go through up’s and downs, as well as transitions. It’s the reality of life. Here’s to showing up and giving it all our best; and being okay with that outcome.
