Have you felt empowered by an experience in the outdoors? Maybe it was climbing a project you worked on for a long time - hiking a trail that seemed daunting - running or biking a new PR or distance? I certainly have found a lot of confidence through my experiences and time spent outside. Because of these transformative life lessons and the platform I have developed through my time climbing, I chose to join the Board at Ascend Athletics a few years ago with the mission to empower girls through mountaineering based leadership training and community service.

Ascend develops young women’s self-confidence and skills through the sport of mountain climbing internationally in order to promote youth leadership and civic-mindedness. The organization is committed to helping girls reach their potential.

This organization uses all of its funding to open doors for girls in the most gender-unequal parts of the world. Our teams in Pakistan and Afghanistan are developing leadership skills every day in our programs. These girls are growing more bold, capable, and decisive - and our world needs them to succeed.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of the year, to power our programs in 2024.
