The annual @bloomberg #NewEconomyForum has returned to Singapore again this year, with a pertinent and timely theme of “Embracing Instability” – bridging conversations on the geopolitical challenges and uncertainties in our turbulent world. 

Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait and I discussed some of these challenges, including tensions between the US and China, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Israel-Hamas conflict. We reaffirmed the importance of a rules-based international order amidst the difficult climate. 

Domestically, we must also maintain high standards of government – we will continue to sail forth even in troubled tides, protecting our national interests while ensuring inclusive growth for all Singaporeans.
