An exemplary work is "Poème Symphonique for 100 metronomes" (1962) by György Ligeti, which utilizes 100 metronomes. There are multiple “times” running simultaneously in this piece and has no central tempo. It’s rare to see this kind of music anywhere in the world. Even traditional folk music generally has a central tempo. Multi-temporal pieces are constructed not to have an end. They can go on continuously without beginnings or endings. The piece had to end somewhere out of convenience in order to include it in an album, though.
