ニュー・ミュージアム・オブ・コンテンポラリー・アートさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ニュー・ミュージアム・オブ・コンテンポラリー・アートInstagram)「Visitors to the exhibition, "Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo): Nothing New," may encounter the artist lounging on a bed, sitting at her desk, or hosting guests in a restaging of her bedroom. Playing with visibility and performativity, Kuriki-Olivo has installed “smart glass” that she can turn on or off to obscure or reveal her activities within this central section of the gallery. When the artist is present, visitors can observe her through the glass (if Kuriki-Olivo allows), or through two CCTV-style cameras that are also constantly filming her. When she is offsite, viewers can still follow her actions via a live video feed that is periodically streamed into the Museum’s Lobby. This installation marks a sharp pivot in Kuriki-Olivo's practice away from anonymity and towards radical visibility and (literal) transparency. As a whole, "Nothing New" evokes complex layers of intimacy, pointing to both Kuriki-Olivo’s lived experiences and the societal and technological apparatuses by which we relate to ourselves and each other. 📷 “Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo): Nothing New,” 2023.
