Her husband, Fish, suffered a gastrointestinal bleed while on vacation with their family, and Sue watched as he received lifesaving blood transfusions one unit at a time. It took five units of blood and intensive care over the span of nine days to stabilize him. Sue says she would have lost Fish if blood had not been immediately available when he needed it. “The hospital caregivers were amazing, but it was the blood donors that actually saved his life,” she said.
