“I’m not that interested in collecting as a flex,” he tells us. “It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. I just want to love it…that’s it.“
Under this framework, an edition by Tadanori Yokoo or painting by Mario Ayala holds the same weight as a stack of $1 USD crime novels by Donald Gaines. “To me, they’re like charged objects.”
Hypeart was recently invited to an exclusive tour into DeWitt’s three-location collection spanning his Silverlake home, his uncle’s nearby house, along with his studio in West Adams.
