I had the pleasure to shoot this place two days ago - and witness Colorado River's longest free flowing tributary, the Yampa (right), meet the Green River before they march to the sea. Sadly though, not of drop of these rivers which join the Colorado downstream, have reached the Sea of Cortez in Mexico since 1998. Over allocation, drought and climate change are the culprits. Once a proposed dam location, this magnificent site remains un-dammed today thanks to the efforts of a few. Like many complex environmental battles, it came with the cost of compromise. Glen Canyon Dam, which forms Lake Powell in Utah, exists today because no dam was built here—where the dinosaurs once roamed.
