High above the weather-beaten fjords of Chile, climbers stand atop The Gremlin's Cap in what was then the unexplored Cordillera Sarmiento. As the westernmost range of southern Patagonia, this catches the full force of the "Furious Fifties" and in two months we had only 5 climbable days. Soon after I shot this picture, we were trapped in a soggy snow cave by 5 days of 125+ mph winds and blinding snow before we could escape to our base camp by the sea.
