On the 26th we made it to Pig Hill, the last challenge before the summit. Suddenly the weather changed with a huge clap of thunder. The sun disappeared and was replaced by a fierce storm. It started snowing mashed potatoes and the atmosphere was charged with electricity. We began "batting bees" - waving our arms by our ears to shoo away the buzzing. Worried that our skis and climbing gear would act as a lightening rod we tied our gear behind us and retreated. This was one of the most obvious examples of nature saying "no way". #rainiermountaineering guide Mike Haugen assessing the situation while his clients huddle in the storm. We descended after a good experience. #wildsalmondenali #flysontheanvil
