These past few days have been extremely stressful and devastating for me. I want to share my situation because I know many of you can relate and perhaps you can offer words of encouragement or your personal stories of success from injury. I've struggled with a "bad knee" for about a year now. It was never a debilitating pain but of course, I never went and got it checked because I was scared that the Dr. would tell me to stop training or that I would need surgery. So, like an idiot, I kept training heavy and doing my weekly plyo workouts which can put a lot of stress on a troubled joint. This week, while teaching my class, I stopped abruptly while sprinting full force and immediately knew that I damaged my knee even more. By the end of the class I couldn't bend my leg and began to have shooting pains down my knee into my calf and heel. The next day I went in for an MRI and found out that I have a partial tear in my PCL. For those that don't know, the PCL is the ligament behind the ACL and helps to hold the back of the knee in place.  Needless to say, I'm devastated. Fitness is my job and my passion, and being in this industry comes with so much pressure to look a certain way; and this injury will undoubtably come with the loss of some of my physical progress. So instead, I'm switching my focus to internal progress. I'm trying to remain positive and productive. I can still walk, the pain is manageable, and I don't need surgery. Of course, this means that I'm not training legs for a while, at least not in the way I'm used to.  Regardless of the injury, I have so much to be thankful for and I have decided to share the steps of my recovery with everyone here. I'm not rushing through my recovery, I'm going to let nature take it's course and listen to my body this time around. When we train, it's important to know and trust the limitations of our bodies. I know that with hard work, I'll recover completely. And I hope that my journey can help anyone who needs to encouragement and motivation to come back after an injury as well. ? @getfitandthick #fitandthick
