Photo: @pedromcbride Pete McBride | For six million years the Colorado River flowed across these desert drainage tendrils to the sea, but not a drop has crossed its delta since the 1990s - until today. Yesterday and this morning water was released from the Morelos Dam and will continue throughout the week in an effort to restore the delta - providing water for fish, fisherman (and their boats left marooned) and thousands of birds. This small pulse flow release is part of an agreement with the US and Mexican Govs thanks to the hard work of many. I'm headed there today to see if the flow will reach the sea. #water #coloradoriver #restoration #babysteps #artery@thephotosociety @natgeocreative
