This book is unbelievable. The history lessons they don't teach you in school. Written by an old friend of mine, #PeterMaguire (with #MikeRitter), #ThaiStick details everything you didn't know about #DrugSmuggling from everywhere it was available in Asia spreading to the rest of the world from the late 60's thru early 80's. Surfers and the lifestyle it afforded them just happened to be one perfect combination to pull off a lot of covert stuff. Smuggling and scamming offered ex-pats, draft-dodgers, and traveling surfers a means to an end after dodging or avoiding the Vietnam war. You probably won't want to #HolidayInCambodia, Laos, Afghanistan, or Vietnam anytime soon after reading this story (or you might) but you'll learn a lot about the history of this way of life and geography of Indo-Asia. #TimothyLeary and #RichardNixon even make cameos.
