This canopy is made of thermo-bimetal, a material that responds to heat much like human skin. The holes in the canopy have flaps over them that curl up in the heat, allowing air to pass through for ventilation. In areas hit by direct sun, the metals flatten out to create shade. This makes the structure highly energy efficient.
