Photo by @argonautphoto (Aaron Huey). This is an image from the first photo essay of my life (1999). It all began for me in a mountainous region of the Georgian Republic called #Svaneti. I was adopted by the Pilpani family on the wedding night of their eldest daughter, and returned for 3 years in a row to document both this family and the region. 14 years later @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine sent me back to finish the story and to find that family again. In this image Garontee and Islam Pilpani play chess in the back yard. I found both men and photographed them playing chess with each other again last year! #Sakartvelo
