Photo by @jonathankingston. In John Muir’s Travels in Alaska, he mentions seeing harbor seals on the icebergs floating near glaciers, and of being relieved when his guides failed to successfully shoot and kill any of them. When birthing their pups or growing new hair coats, seals like to leave the water, and what could be a better resting spot than a cozy iceberg! The seals know that they safe from terrestrial predators, and that their chief foe, killer whales, rarely venture so close to the glacier. #ngexpeditions #alaska
