Day of the Dead events take place on November 1st and 2nd of each year and coincide with both pre-Columbian and Catholic celebrations. Family and friends gather to honor those who have passed with ceremonies that include feasts, music, vigils, and the creation of temporary ofrenda altars. Here are the museum, we are celebrating the holiday with an ofrenda by artist/writer Sanra Cisneros. It's on display through January 12, 2015, in our "American Stories" exhibition. /// Hoy es el Día de Muertos. Los eventos de Día de muertos coinciden tanto con festividades pre-colombinas como católicas. Las familias se reúnen para honrrar aquellos que han fallecido recordando sus vidas con música, vigilias,comidas y creando altares como ofrendas. Aquí en el museo estamos conmemornado la ocasión con una ofrenda creada por la artista y escriotora Sandra Cisneros.
