#TBT Found in the Guggenheim Library’s Special Collection, these lively collages (c. 1930) of female figures, dancers, and exotic characters are by the Guggenheim’s first director Hilla Rebay, shown in our 2005 exhibition “Art of Tomorrow: Hilla Rebay and Solomon R. Guggenheim.” Rebay was a prolific artist who was academically trained in portrait and figure painting, but spent most of her career building the Museum for Non-Objective Painting (the precursor to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum).
