None of the warriors had ever seen a rhino in the their life and some had never even seen a photo of a rhino. Their eyes got wide and they became very protective of them. The young warriors from Northern Rangelands Trust community conservancies have been visiting to learn about conservation practices such as sustainable land use, grazing programs and endangered species conservation.
Much needed attention has been focused on the plight of wildlife but very little has been said about the indigenous communities on the frontlines of the poaching wars and the incredible work that is being done by @NRT_KENYA @lewa_wildlife and @NATURE_africa to strengthen them. These communities hold the key to saving Africa's great animals.
The LEWA wildlife conservancy is a globally renowned conservation organization that acts as a catalyst and mode for conservation. The Northern Rangelands Trust works to develop resilient community conservancies which transform people’s lives, secure peace and conserve natural resources.
