This intricate, painted river in Rio was once ugly concrete. Street artists Haas & Hahn created the Japanese-style design featuring koi carp swimming upstream, with help from the local community and tattoo artist Rob Admiraal. The project took almost a year to complete, and the artists came to love their temporary neighbors. “All the time we spent in the neighborhood was maybe even more important than the painting itself,” Haas & Hahn said in their #TEDTalk.
