Photograph by @mattiasklumofficial I photographed this male leopard with a killed impala in Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania. Leopards are obviously extremely strong. They are likely, pound for pound the strongest of the big cats. They easily climb trees, even when carrying heavy prey like an adult impala and often to ensure that lions or hyenas can’t steal their prey. Unfortunately leopards come into conflict with people across their range. A rapidly increasing threat to Leopards is the poisoning of carcasses targeting carnivores, either as a means of predator control or incidentally.
