Time for another #TrilobiteTuesday!
This magnificent specimen lived approximately 435 million years ago. It is an example of the lichid trilobite Dicranopeltis nereus from the Lower Silurian, Rochester Shale of New York State. It is likely that the trilobite's sleek, oval shape and elevated eyes allowed it to rest along the ocean bottom, evading predators and awaiting feeding opportunities.
