#fbf to step one of climbing to the top of #TorresDelPaine in #Patagonia. Something special happens to human beings when dropped into nature like this. My friend @cherylstrayed's words, from #WILD, were typing themselves across my line of sight as I surveyed the vastness of this magical place. "In a flash, I could see myself from far above, a speck on the great mass of green and white, no more or less significant than a single one of the nameless birds in the trees. Here, it could be the Fourth of July or tenth of December. These mountains didn't count the days." As I hiked, pondering the quiet, and the unquantifiable space before me, I stopped a moment to read more of her wise words. "Perhaps being among the undesecrated beauty of the wilderness meant I too could be undesecrated ... of all the things I'd been skeptical about, I didn't feel skeptical about this: the wilderness had a clarity that included me." Go out. Adventure. Put one foot in front of the other. Keep going. Feel some part of yourself clarified. The earth does that for us. Thank you Cheryl, for always reminding me of that.
