Photograph by @remibenali. From a tale about the Taj Mahal this month on my account. The immaculate whiteness of the Taj Mahal is legendary. To realize this extravagant monument glorifying an eternal love, the Emperor choose a marble "as fine as a diamond". But where did this famous stone came from? Would it be possible to find some remnants of its exploitation 350 years later? This question intrigued me while I was living in New York City back in the nineties (doesn't make me younger). I didn't want to involve a magazine on a quest with such uncertain results but as soon as I had enough financial resources I flew to India, determined to find the origin of this mythical stone on my own.
