For anyone who didn't get the joke or look at a clock (in America) the other day, I'm not retiring after the #RipCurlPro at #BellsBeach this year. But I sure did feel like Zayn retiring from One Direction for a minute or two the past couple of days!? Here's to hoping for another #HailMary like this one from 2012.
For anyone who wasn't at that particular event, 2012 marked the 50th anniversary of the contest. The event was dedicated to #MichaelPeterson who had passed away just a week prior to the contest. Only minutes after @mfanno and I finished the final and had the awards ceremony, a crazy storm tore apart the contest venue with 80mph winds. The only thing left in place when it had passed was a giant banner of Michael Peterson. It was an ominous sign that he was somehow there with us. Mick and I were both good friends with MP so we saw it as a fitting result he would have enjoyed. ☔️⚡️? #HellsBells #ThoughtIWasGonnaBreakMyLeg #RingDaBell @世界プロサーフィン連盟（WSL）
