Rahel Gebretsadik, 16, with her sister at home in the south part of #TelAviv. Rahel, an Eritrean immigrant and a runner, lives in a two-bedroom apartment with her parents and her seven siblings. She is currently ranked first in #Israel in the category for girls under 17 and second, nationally, for women who compete in the 1,500-meter run. But until recently, her victories were not officially acknowledged because of something beyond her control: she was an illegal immigrant. “This is the story of so many of the members of this team,” said @tamirhasacellphone, who documented Rahel and her #running teammates. “They all had reasons to flee" their home countries, he said. #nytweekender
