GE Engineer, Richard Evans, inspects the front engine cab where the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is located. The EGR is a key technology that recirculates a portion of the engine’s exhaust gas back into the engine cylinders reducing Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions by 76%. This is the only locomotive engine to meet the EPA’s Tier 4 requirements without any after-treatment technology.
