Our first visitor-inspired installation is now on display in the interactive section of 'Double Take: African Innovations.' One of the most recurrent themes visitors shared with us dealt with gender and we chose two objects with this in mind. Curator @bkln_afrpac has paired beautiful, but surprising, representations of gendered beauty, which challenge received ideas about gender roles. The female sculpture, by a Luba artist, is a representation of political power and leadership, while the male work, by a Baule artist, is a vision of male beauty, meant for a female patron. #BKMAfricanart
