A man lay in the street at 37th Street and Eighth Avenue after being shot by the police earlier today. The man, David Baril, was wanted in connection with a series of hammer attacks in #Manhattan. Rich Docherty, who runs a photo blog called NYC Snapped, had been walking along Eighth Avenue looking for photo opportunities when he heard a “pop, pop, pop, pop.” “At the first, I kind of jumped, because it was startling,” he said. “I thought, ‘Wow, a car backfired.’” He looked around and spotted this scene, pulling out his camera and shooting from his position 100 feet away. “I just started clicking off frames from where I was because I wanted to get the most immediate reaction before it changed,” he said. Rich — who said he knew he had “the money shot” — then walked a few blocks north toward the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ building to share his pictures.
