Male’s tusks are usually blunt however, they hit with such force that I have found dead walrus from these encounters. Even polar bears have been found floating dead in the ocean with walrus tusk puncture wounds through them. With that said, these battles usually only result in minor scrapes and cuts. It took many years, but I finally got up the courage to get in the water and dive with feeding walrus. It was both the most nerve-wracking and rewarding experience I have ever had.
