It took me three flights in a small (8 seater) aircraft flying through torrential rainstorms and landing on grass runways to get to this little paradise in the Solomon Islands. The last flight, the pilot had to circle the hidden runway 8 times before he could find it through the clouds and rain. Then the clouds parted for just a second and he made a divebomb landing which was quite interesting (to put it lightly). After the landing, the two young pilots looked at each other and laughed. Yowza. But dare I say, it was totally worth it. If you find yourself in the Solomon Islands (and I highly suggest you put it on your list), check out Marau on the east side of the main island of Guadalcanal. There's a resort there called Tavanipupu (which translates to "bay of triggerfish") that is to die for. I took this image on a night stroll during the blue hour. The cottages are well appointed, the food is incredible, and it has some of the best snorkeling I've done right out in front of the bay (with lots of triggerfish, and a plethora more). I fell in love with this peaceful place. Oh, and you can get there by boat if you are not the most adventurous flyer. Photo by @magnumji
