@shayneoliver, creative director of the New York-based label @hoodbyair, and Paul Cupo, fashion director. The fashion scout @kevin_amato is challenging the notions of male beauty that have long held sway in the men’s wear business. A proponent of street casting — finding and choosing models outside the established agency system — @kevin_amato, 34, is the man responsible for discovering new faces modeling for @hoodbyair. The label’s catwalks are filled with people diverse in height, weight, skin tone and gender identity. Many of them are nonprofessional, or more accurately, not-yet-professional models.
