Hans Go playing bridge with friends on his 86th birthday. The photographer @ilvynjio spent a year attending birthday parties in the Netherlands. After she had photographed 10 parties, she announced on a television talk show that she wanted to photograph birthday girls and boys between the ages of 1 and 100. She received thousands of invitations in just a few days and spent a year learning more about her culture as she photographed celebrations. “My favorite parties had to be those of celebrants who were over 80,” she told our photo blog, Lens. “They were gracefully embracing life and seemed much less encumbered by worries than their younger counterparts.”
