This #FossilFriday is foxii. Hypsilophodon foxii, that is.
Hypsilophodon was a small and presumably agile plant-eater that relied on swiftness to escape predators. The long, lightly built hind limbs suggest excellent running ability, and the tendon-stiffened tail provided balance for the trunk and head. This is a cast of a specimen that lived about 114 million years ago in the Early Cretaceous.
This specimen is located in the Museum’s Hall of Ornithischian Dinosaurs.
