I spent nearly two months living in Toureg encampments there in 2004 while working to photograph endangered desert elephants. Recently nomadic, the Touregs would follow the elephant migration for hundreds of miles each year in search of food and water. I am saddened by the recent violence in Mali and hope to again visit the beautiful land and people. Please follow me @carltonward. #Mali #Sahel
