The World Health Organization has designated April 7th as #WorldHealthDay, but a key prescription for keeping the world healthy is universal access to clean, potable #water and safe #sanitation. More than half a billion people on the planet have no source of safe water, while 2.3 billion lack adequate sanitation facilities. As a result, an estimated 900 children die each day from preventable diarrhoeal diseases.
The non-profit @wateraid, is trying to change that, working to provide safe water and improved sanitation in 37 countries including #Uganda, where 80 percent of the population has no access to safe sanitation facilities. With modern latrines and clean water taps, the children at this #school will have a better chance for a healthier future. @worldhealthorganization #sdoh #health #CleanWater #wateraccess #‎watersecurity
